Dr. DeLegge, nationally recognized in the fields of nutrition and gastroenterology, is widely published and is active in numerous professional organizations including the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the American Society for Nutrition Sciences. Dr. DeLegge is also very active in the development of new endoscopic techniques, especially in the field of the endoscopic management of obesity.

Dr. DeLegge also serves as the Chairman of the MUSC Hospital Nutrition Research Advisory Board, a committee developed in December 2005 to support the development, implementation, evaluation, and dissemination of multi-professional, hospital-based nutrition outcomes research that can result in improved quality of clinical care at lower costs. This group consists of members from Administration, Pediatrics, Basic Science, Adult Gastroenterology, Weight Management, Clinical Nutrition, Office of Research Development, Office of Special Initiatives, and Biostatistics and Epidemiology. Together, they support ongoing hospital-based nutritional research, advise on future research initiatives and identify potential funding sources.
